Client Overview:
We are a compassionate and resilient family caring for our beloved wife and mother who has been diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma multiforme. Our primary focus is on providing her with the highest quality of life possible, managing her symptoms and discomfort, and offering emotional support to her and our family caregivers during this challenging time.

Project Overview:
We are seeking experienced healthcare professionals who specialize in palliative care and seizure management to provide comprehensive support for our loved one. This project entails a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension based on her ongoing needs and the progression of her illness.

Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor our loved one’s seizures, including assessment, medication management, and implementation of seizure precautions to ensure her safety and comfort.
Provide compassionate and empathetic palliative care to alleviate our loved one’s symptoms, manage pain and discomfort, and optimize her quality of life during this terminal phase of her illness.
Offer emotional support and counseling to our loved one and our family caregivers, helping them cope with the challenges, uncertainties, and emotional distress associated with terminal illness and end-of-life care.
Collaborate closely with our loved one’s medical team, including oncologists, neurologists, palliative care specialists, and other healthcare providers, to coordinate care, optimize symptom management strategies, and address emerging needs and concerns.
Facilitate discussions and advance care planning with our loved one and our family caregivers to ensure their wishes, preferences, and goals of care are respected and honored throughout the course of her illness.
Requirements:

Certification as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in palliative care, oncology, or neurology, preferably with expertise in managing seizures and providing end-of-life care.
Proficiency in seizure management, including assessment, medication administration, and implementation of seizure precautions to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Compassionate communication and counseling skills, with the ability to provide emotional support and facilitate difficult conversations about end-of-life care, advance directives, and goals of care with patients and their families.
Experience in providing comprehensive palliative care to patients with advanced cancer or terminal illnesses, including symptom management, pain control, and psychosocial support for patients and their families.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and community resources to provide holistic and patient-centered care.

Patient Case:
Palliative Care and Seizure Management

Patient: 55-year-old woman

Condition: The patient has been diagnosed with terminal glioblastoma multiforme, experiencing seizures as a symptom of her illness and requiring palliative care to manage her symptoms and optimize her quality of life.

Care Plan:

Seizure Management: Monitor and manage the patient’s seizures through comprehensive assessment, medication management, and implementation of seizure precautions to ensure her safety and comfort. Adjust medication regimens as needed to control seizure activity and minimize adverse effects.
Palliative Care: Provide compassionate and empathetic palliative care to alleviate the patient’s symptoms, manage pain and discomfort, and optimize her quality of life during this terminal phase of her illness.
