Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our caregiving team on a contractual basis, with a focus on providing specialized care for our child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This role involves behavioral therapy, medication management, and offering support to parents to manage behavior and promote social skills development.
Responsibilities:
Behavioral Therapy: Provide behavioral therapy interventions tailored to our child’s unique needs and challenges associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Implement evidence-based strategies to address behaviors such as impulsivity, hyperactivity, sensory sensitivities, and difficulties with social interaction and communication.
Medication Management: Assist in managing medications prescribed for ADHD and co-occurring conditions, ensuring adherence to treatment plans, monitoring for potential side effects, and adjusting dosages as needed under the guidance of healthcare providers. Educate parents on proper medication administration techniques and potential interactions.
Parental Support: Offer guidance and support to parents to help them understand and manage their child’s behavior effectively. Provide education on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including strategies for behavior management, positive reinforcement, and promoting social skills development. Offer resources and referrals to support groups or counseling services as needed to enhance parental coping and well-being.
Social Skills Development: Implement interventions to promote our child’s social skills development, including opportunities for social interaction, communication training, and participation in structured activities to enhance peer relationships and social engagement. Collaborate with educators, therapists, and community resources to facilitate social integration and inclusion.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, including pediatricians, psychologists, and behavioral therapists, to ensure coordinated care and optimize treatment outcomes. Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on our child’s progress, address concerns, and adjust care plans as needed.
Requirements:
Certification as a registered nurse with experience in pediatric nursing, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health.
Proficiency in behavioral therapy interventions for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), including knowledge of evidence-based strategies for behavior management and social skills development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to children and families dealing with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
