Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our caregiving team on a contractual basis, with a focus on providing specialized care for our 3-year-old child with cerebral palsy and seizures. This role involves seizure management, medication adjustments, and support for parents to navigate the challenges of caring for a child with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities:
Seizure Management: Provide specialized seizure management for our 3-year-old child with cerebral palsy. Monitor seizure activity, assess seizure type and severity, and implement appropriate interventions to manage seizures effectively, ensuring our child’s safety and well-being at all times.
Medication Adjustments: Make medication adjustments as necessary to optimize seizure control and minimize adverse effects. Collaborate with healthcare providers to assess medication efficacy, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosages or medication regimens as needed to achieve optimal seizure management and improve our child’s quality of life.
Parental Support: Offer ongoing support and guidance to parents as they navigate the challenges of caring for a child with cerebral palsy and seizures. Provide education on seizure management techniques, medication administration, and strategies for coping with the emotional and practical aspects of caring for a child with complex medical needs, empowering parents to feel confident and capable in their caregiving role.
Communication and Collaboration: Communicate regularly with healthcare providers, including pediatricians, neurologists, and therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for our child. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide updates on our child’s condition, discuss treatment options, and develop comprehensive care plans tailored to our child’s individual needs and preferences.
Family Education and Resources: Offer resources and assistance to help parents access the support services and community resources available to them. Provide information on support groups, respite care options, and other services that can help parents manage the demands of caring for a child with cerebral palsy and seizures, promoting their overall well-being and resilience.
Requirements:
Certification as a registered nurse with experience in pediatric nursing, neurology, or epilepsy care.
Proficiency in seizure management, medication adjustments, and support for families caring for children with complex medical needs, including knowledge of pediatric seizure disorders, anti-epileptic medications, and developmental considerations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to children and families facing medical challenges.
