Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our caregiving team on a contractual basis, with a focus on providing specialized care for our father recovering from a stroke. This role involves speech therapy, physical therapy, and assistance with activities of daily living to help him regain function and independence.

Responsibilities:

Speech Therapy: Provide speech therapy interventions tailored to address our father’s aphasia, focusing on improving his ability to communicate effectively. Implement techniques and exercises to enhance language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while supporting his confidence and independence in communication.
Physical Therapy: Offer physical therapy interventions to address our father’s hemiparesis, focusing on improving his mobility, strength, balance, and coordination. Implement exercises and techniques to enhance his motor skills and functional abilities, while promoting his safety and independence in daily activities.
Assistance with Activities of Daily Living: Provide hands-on assistance and support with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation. Offer guidance and encouragement to help our father perform these tasks independently to the best of his ability, fostering his sense of autonomy and dignity.
Rehabilitation Support: Collaborate with rehabilitation specialists, including speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and medical providers, to coordinate care and optimize treatment strategies for our father’s recovery. Communicate regularly with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and personalized care that addresses his evolving needs and goals.
Family Education: Offer education and support to family members on understanding stroke recovery, managing care at home, and supporting our father’s rehabilitation journey. Provide guidance on techniques for facilitating communication, assisting with mobility, and promoting independence in daily activities, empowering the family to actively participate in his care.
Requirements:

Certification as a registered nurse with experience in stroke rehabilitation, neurology, or home healthcare.
Proficiency in providing speech therapy and physical therapy interventions for individuals recovering from stroke, including knowledge of techniques to address aphasia and hemiparesis.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to stroke survivors and their families.
