About the Client:
We are a caring and supportive family dedicated to the well-being and recovery of our beloved mother who is in the process of recovering from a stroke. Our primary focus is to facilitate her rehabilitation journey, particularly addressing her hemiparesis and aphasia, and to ensure she regains as much independence and function as possible.

Project Overview:
We are seeking experienced healthcare professionals who are compassionate and skilled in stroke rehabilitation to provide comprehensive support for our mother. This project entails a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension depending on her ongoing rehabilitation needs and progress.

Responsibilities:

Implement physical therapy exercises tailored to address our mother’s hemiparesis, focusing on improving mobility, strength, and coordination on the affected side.
Provide speech therapy support to help our mother regain communication abilities affected by aphasia, including exercises and techniques to improve speech and language skills.
Utilize assistive technology and devices to support our mother in improving motor function and facilitating communication, ensuring they are appropriate and effectively integrated into her daily life.
Collaborate closely with our mother’s medical team, including neurologists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and assistive technology specialists, to coordinate care, optimize treatment strategies, and address emerging needs and challenges.
Educate and support our family in understanding our mother’s condition, rehabilitation process, and how to best assist her in her recovery journey at home and in other settings.
Requirements:

Certification as a registered nurse or therapist with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in stroke rehabilitation, particularly in addressing hemiparesis and aphasia.
Proficiency in implementing physical therapy exercises to improve mobility, strength, and coordination, specifically tailored for individuals recovering from stroke-related hemiparesis.
Strong understanding of speech therapy techniques and interventions for individuals with aphasia, with the ability to adapt approaches to meet our mother’s unique needs and preferences.
Experience in utilizing assistive technology and devices to support motor function and communication for individuals recovering from stroke, ensuring they are effectively integrated into daily activities.
Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor, fostering trust and collaboration with our family and interdisciplinary healthcare teams involved in our mother’s care and rehabilitation.
