About the Client:
We are a compassionate and supportive family dedicated to the well-being and comfort of our beloved mother, who is 70 years old and facing challenges associated with severe arthritis in her hands and knees. Our primary focus is to ensure that she receives the necessary assistance and resources to manage her pain effectively, protect her joints, and maintain her independence in daily activities.
Project Overview:
We are seeking experienced healthcare professionals who specialize in arthritis management and rehabilitation to provide comprehensive support for our loved one. This project entails implementing tailored interventions, including pain management strategies, joint protection techniques, and adaptive devices, to address her arthritis-related challenges and enhance her quality of life.
Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough assessment of our mother’s arthritis symptoms and functional limitations to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses her unique needs and preferences.
Provide pain management strategies to alleviate discomfort and improve her quality of life, including medication management, physical therapy modalities, and non-pharmacological interventions such as heat therapy or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).
Deliver education on joint protection techniques to help our mother minimize stress on her hands and knees during daily activities, including proper body mechanics, ergonomic modifications, and energy conservation techniques.
Recommend and assist with the selection and use of adaptive devices and assistive technology to support our mother’s independence in activities of daily living, such as dressing aids, kitchen gadgets, and mobility aids.
Collaborate closely with our mother’s rheumatologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care and optimize treatment outcomes.
Educate and support our family in understanding our mother’s condition, treatment options, and how to best support her in managing her arthritis-related challenges at home.
Requirements:
Certification or extensive experience in arthritis management, rehabilitation, or related fields, with expertise in addressing the unique needs of individuals with severe arthritis in their hands and knees.
Proficiency in providing pain management interventions for arthritis, including medication management and a variety of physical therapy modalities to alleviate discomfort and improve function.
Experience in delivering education on joint protection techniques and adaptive strategies to promote independence and reduce joint stress in daily activities.
Knowledge of adaptive devices and assistive technology options for individuals with arthritis, with the ability to recommend and assist with the selection and use of appropriate devices to support independent living.
Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor, fostering trust and collaboration with our mother and her family, as well as interdisciplinary healthcare teams involved in her care.
