Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced nurse to join our caregiving team on a contractual basis, with a focus on providing specialized care for our father living with terminal prostate cancer. This role involves palliative care, pain management, and offering emotional support to help him and our family navigate this difficult journey with comfort and dignity.
Responsibilities:
Palliative Care: Provide comprehensive palliative care to our father, focusing on symptom management, comfort measures, and enhancing his quality of life during his final stages of prostate cancer.
Pain Management: Assist in managing pain associated with prostate cancer and bone metastases, utilizing pharmacological interventions, non-pharmacological pain relief techniques, and comfort measures tailored to our father’s needs and preferences.
Emotional Support: Offer compassionate and empathetic support to our father and our family, providing reassurance, companionship, and comfort amidst the challenges of living with terminal illness and caregiving.
Family Caregiver Support: Provide education, guidance, and emotional support to family caregivers, helping them cope with the demands of caregiving, offering respite care opportunities, and promoting their own self-care and well-being.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, including oncologists, palliative care specialists, and pain management specialists, to ensure coordinated care and optimize treatment strategies for managing symptoms and promoting overall comfort and well-being.
Requirements:
Certification as a registered nurse with experience in palliative care, oncology, or hospice care.
Proficiency in pain management techniques for individuals with terminal cancer, including knowledge of pharmacological interventions, non-pharmacological pain relief techniques, and palliative care principles.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate support to patients and their families dealing with end-of-life care.
Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals living with terminal illness and their families.
